there, that proves it, subtlety and brevity are not my strong
points. while we're on the subject check out dove's
evolution ad and the rest of their compaign for real
beauty, interesting stuff (if you're into
advertisements).
i saw a production of Luc Besson's
'Lèon' done with puppets. not
perfect (though i must admit i didn't understand a good chunk of
the german), but it was certainly the smartest and most
interesting thing i've seen in quite a while.
back when i was in elementary school i thought the sun was a
disc floating a few miles above the ground (i have a drawing
somewhere to prove it). i couldn't figure out what was holding
the sun up and i used to worry that when it was setting it was
actually falling and maybe one day it would crash and break into
a million pieces and never shine again. now i'm an adult, and i
know the sun is a 10,000+ yotta-ton nuclear explosion of hydrogen
and helium. i know that the earth, barely more than a speck of
dust in comparison, revolves around it and no magical floating
discs are involved. all this knowledge notwithstanding every
morning i'm a little relieved to see the light. i feel better
knowing that during the night the sun didn't fall down and
shatter.
